AITAH for dating my “friend’s” ex?

I (female, 27) have been dating my boyfriend (male,26) for almost a year. For some context him and I knew each other in high school. I wouldn't say we were friends but

acquaintances. Our friends knew each other, we'd follow each other on socials and casually say hi in passing. Nothing more in conversation than small talk. The same thing goes with his ex
(female,26). She was an acquaintance. Would casually greet her around the halls, make small talk rarely and that was about it. Never once
hung out during lunch or outside of school, never sat with one another in class, didn't text or call each other, just acquaintances.
I'm almost a decade outside of high school and I had not seen either of them in that amount of time. They have also been broken up for over 3 years. My boyfriend and I have a close mutual
friend, we started hanging out due to him inviting us to multiple events and then from there began to date. We have a good relationship and everything is going perfect, I
recently posted him on social media and his ex blocked me, that's understandable and I did not take it to heart. They no longer follow one another on any socials, if she doesn't want to see her ex I respect that.
However, I was at a party one night and someone very close to his ex came up to me. They began to tell me his ex and her friends were speaking extremely negatively about me

for dating her my boyfriend since we were "friends" and I wasn't a "girl's girl". I was a little taken back since we haven't spoken in 10 years and even when we last did it was small talk,

never a real conversation. I didn't see anything wrong with me dating my boyfriend because in reality she was never a friend in my eyes and I'd bet my life savings I was never one in hers
either until now. Friends talk and text, know each others birthdays and pets names, invite one another out and we've never done that. I tried to compare it to her dating my ex since it's
similar situations. We all went to high school together, we were all acquaintances and nothing more, we all ended on good terms and are good people. I wouldn't feel negatively
towards her at all if she dated my ex, but now I'm seconding guessing if maybe I am the ah_le for not considering her before agreeing to dating my boyfriend?
sea-elle0463 Not even close to being the AH. The ex was never a friend. If she had been, I'd have a different opinion.
azzole77 Sorry you have to deal with HS drama 10 years later. Who knows, she couldn't hang on to him or he her but she doesn't want anyone else having him either. Enjoy your lives together!
curious_experiment_o NTA. People that are clinging to that high school energy/vibe are the worst. If u and ur bf are happy then thats all that matters.
Intrepid Fly7959 I had a high-school sweetheart. And a big group of girlfriends. I'm pretty sure he's single. I know one of the girls is back on the market after a divorce. I think they would have fun together. I would totally encourage it!
